A tax manager with Gunnip & Company, Anne is well-traveled, and formerly worked in The Netherlands with a Big 8 firm before coming back home to Delaware. She has worked in various accounting leadership positions and gravitated towards tax work. “The compliance aspect of tax appeals to me, and I like being able to develop tax planning strategies and make recommendations for my clients,” she says.
Her ability to explain different options and identify red flags to her clients is apparent - she has received commendations from clients for her knowledge of tax laws and her patience in answering questions and clarifying intricate tax and financial issues. Anne has worked with her clients to:
- Significantly reduce IRS penalties. Due to her familiarity with tax law and the client’s financial history, Anne worked on behalf of her client, researching their available options and communicating with the IRS to have the penalties ultimately waived.
- Increase their ability to utilize foreign tax credits, recognizing additional sources of foreign income. Utilizing IC-DISC tax incentives Anne helped a large multinational client reduce taxes by 20%.
- Indentify foreign asset reporting required and assist clients with compliance in this area, including communicating with the IRS and notice resolution.
Anne spends a great deal of time researching changes and updates to tax laws. Yet, dealing with tax laws that are constantly in a state of flux are not a nuisance for Anne, “I know every client comes with different issues and I like the challenge of figuring out how to make it work for them,” she says, “I know we make an impact by minimizing their taxes.”
In her spare time, Anne enjoys playing tennis, gardening and reading. Anne lives in Hockessin, DE with her husband and two children.
