A manager in Gunnip & Company's assurance practice, Chris has been with the firm for a decade. While attending college full time, Chris took some time off to work in the world of retail. He eventually came back to school and realized his calling after taking an accounting class.
The variety of clients and the opportunity to support their businesses is the biggest draw for Chris. No two days are ever the same and he communicates with clients frequently. “Clients contact me throughout the year to ask questions, or sometimes just to bounce ideas off of me. They depend on us, and that helps develop our relationship,” he says. Some examples of Chris’s recent accomplishments include:
- Suggesting a more efficient record-keeping process. Chris recognized that some of his work could be performed internally and submitted a summary of areas in which his client could save money by performing the processes on their own. The client took his advice and invested in internal training for their employees resulting in savings of time and money.
- Exploring tax options for a major purchase, Chris proactively researched how his client could save money based on current tax rules, making suggestions based on the client’s current and future business needs. The client followed his advice, saving a substantial amount in taxes.
Chris offers a strong work ethic and attention to detail - traits that are a definite plus for clients. “I like looking at a how clients run their business, figure out why they’re doing well and point out areas for improvement,” he says.
A Delaware resident, Chris is a fan of UNC Tarheels basketball and enjoys watching movies and reading murder mysteries. He supports various fundraising events for local schools and enjoys spending time with family and friends - especially his two children.
