A manager with the firm, Diane enjoys working closely with individuals, business owners, and their advisors. She enjoys helping to solve the daily challenges they face. Joining Gunnip in 2005, she provides accounting, tax, and management advisory services, particularly with small and medium sized businesses whether they are corporations, s-corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies or trusts.
Diane recognizes her clients’ need for technology support in accessing important financial reports quickly, which led her to become a Quickbooks ProAdvisor. Every client needs timely information, whether it is to resolve a tax notice or to get a loan for new equipment. When their accounting system is set up correctly, and they know how to access the information, they can get the information they need quickly. “It is rewarding to be able to produce the report you need, exactly when you need it. I enjoying helping clients have their information right when they need it.”
Following are examples of Diane’s accomplishments:
- Diane is instrumental in the set-up and client training of Quickbooks general ledger systems and advising clients on proper application of accounting standards and technical issues. She has helped numerous companies get started from scratch to a point where they become comfortable in handling their accounting system on their own and getting to the right balances to file an accurate tax return.
- Keeping herself up-to-date on new and present tax credit opportunities for her clients, Diane has been able to calculate thousands of dollars' worth of savings in tax credits, giving her clients dollar for dollar tax deductions. Diane has been able to calculate over $20,000 in savings for her clients in just tax credits alone.
- Continuously thinking of her clients throughout the year, Diane is always trying to plan ways to save her clients money when it comes time to filing their personal and business tax returns. Whether they are selling their business or thinking of purchasing new equipment, Diane lets her client’s know the tax effects of such actions. She knows the importance of planning ahead. “I like to see how my clients are doing throughout the year, as opposed to only after the year-end, so I can see if there is anything we can do to help them before it’s too late.”
Diane is active in the community. In 2015, Diane was selected by the Delaware Business Times as a “40 Under 40” award recipient. She volunteers with Faithful Friends and finds the time with the animals rewarding. Her dog is a pet therapy dog, who she enjoys taking to a local rehabilitation home knowing he brings smiles to those who need it most. She is also on the planning committee of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and volunteers some of her time to bookkeeping at the Delaware Nature Center.
